An outdoor amateur astronomy convention (star party) with nighttime astronomical observing open to the public as a family event. Walking Tour of Beach Section at Spicers Cove
At Spicers Cove, walk through a Coal Age fossil forest, see volcanic flows, spectacular faults, igneous dykes, raised beaches, sea stacks, seals and sea ducks. This is a moderate walk suitable for all ages. We will meet at the Fundy Geological Museum at 9:45 am or join in at the Eatonville entrance to the park at 10:30 am. Come join the Pomquet Development Society for a Lobster Roll Dinner (with salad and dessert) served in the historic Chez Deslauriers homestead overlooking Pomquet Beach and St. George's Bay. Pomquet Acadian Trails (coastal/inland) will be open and there will be an interpretive centre onsite to outline the history of Pomquet. Cape Smokey Provincial Park offers dramatic coastal views. The hiking trail offers numerous look-offs along the 275 metre (900') granite cliffs. McNabs and Lawlor Islands

McNabs and Lawlor Islands Paddle and Cleanup
Join fellow sea kayakers and open canoeists of Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia and Friends of McNabs Island Society for a leisurely paddle along the shoreline of McNabs and Lawlor Islands in Halifax Harbour. We will stop at several beaches to collect litter. Plastic bags and gloves will be provided, and a motor boat will pick up the full bags afterwards. Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) have to be worn while on the water, while the safety equipment required by the Coast Guard (floating line, bailer, and signaling device - ie. whistle) will need to be on board. Bring your canoes/kayaks and accessories, along with your own lunch, drinks, and rain gear. The group will meet in Shearwater. Pre-registration is suggested. Waverley - Salmon River Long Lake Wilderness Area

Crowbar Lake Trail Hike
Enjoy a 10 km hike on the Crowbar Lake Trail, across the southeastern portion of Waverley-Salmon River Long Lake Wilderness Area, near Porters Lake. Discover beautiful remote lakes, forest and scenic look-offs. This adventure is for physically fit hikers. Expect a hiking time of about 2 km/hour on these rugged trails. The 8,700 hectare (21,750 acre) Waverley-Salmon River Long Lake Wilderness Area protects a landscape of forested granite ridges, lakes, and rivers between Waverley and Porters Lake. The Crowbar hiking trail was developed and is managed by Porters Lake-Myra Road Wilderness Area Association (PLMRWAA). Bring hiking boots, lunch, appropriate clothing and your camera. We will likely shuffle vehicles between Myra Road and Lake Echo. Suitable for fit adults and youth over 12. Participants are responsible for their own transportation. Carpooling will be coordinated for those interested. Pre-registration is required. Sponsored by the Nova Scotia Department of Environment-Protected Areas Branch.
