Alcohol
Can I have alcohol at my campsite?
Yes, unless your stay coincides with the designated alcohol-free time. All Nova Scotia Provincial Parks are alcohol-free from the park opening date until check-out (1 pm) July 2, 2009. Alcohol-free means no alcohol is permitted in the park.
Check-in / Check-out
What are the check-in/check-out times?
You can check in at any time as long as you reserved site is vacant. If you don't have a reservation, you can check in at any time providing there is a vacant site. Check-out is 1:00 pm.
Miscellaneous Fees
What are the costs of ice, sewage dumping and wood?
Ice is $2.50, Sewage dumping is $5.34, and Wood is $4.00.
Fires
The site I want to reserve doesn't have a grill; can I still have a fire?
No.
Does a provincial fire ban apply to the parks?
No. You may continue to use the grill at your campsite. Under certain conditions however, the Chief Caretaker can close some/all grills.

How is a group defined?
A group is more than 6 people
Noise
When is quiet time?
Quiet time is 10:30 pm to sunrise.
During what hours can I operate my generator?
Generators can only be operating in our camping parks from 10 am. to 7 pm.
Reservations: Booking & Cancelling
Will you hold my site if I'm late?
Your site will be held until 1:00 pm on the day following your scheduled arrival.
What is the cancellation policy?
There is a fee of $8.00 for each reservation. There is a $6.00 charge for each change or cancellation. Reservations can be changed or cancelled up to 1:00 pm (AT) on the day before your scheduled date of arrival. Reservations cancelled after 1:00 pm (AT) will be charged the "no show" fee equivalent to one night's camping fee.
A number of us are travelling together, do we all have to reserve our own sites?
Not necessarily. An individual can reserve several campsites providing: each site is registered in a different name, one credit card will be used to cover the cost of all sites; and there will be no more than six (6) people per site.
What happens if I arrive at a camping park and I don't have a reservation?
Stop in to the park office to register. You will be assigned a site based on availability and your camping equipment.
When I'm staying at one park can I make a reservation at another provincial park?
Yes. All parks have public phones that you may use to call the reservation line.
If I want to extend my stay at the park where I'm staying, can I do it on-site?
Yes, as long as there is space available.
Reservations: Policies
How is a "family unit" defined?
A family unit is defined as no more than six people, usually of the same immediate family.
How many people are allowed per site?
A maximum of six people are permitted per site.
How many pieces of shelter equipment are permitted per site?
There is a limit of three pieces of equipment per site.
What age does a person have to be to hold a camping permit?
A person must be at least 16 years of age to hold a camping permit.
Can someone under 16 years of age obtain a camping permit?
Yes, provided they are accompanied in the park by a person who is 19 years of age or older who accepts responsibility for the person under 16 years.
Selling
Can I sell my crafts or other merchandise in the park?
No. Advertising or operating a business within the park is not permitted without a special permit.
Seniors
Are all seniors (resident and non-resident) entitled to the seniors discount?
Seniors discount is given to any customer who can show proof of age 65 years or older.
Is there a seniors discount on the purchase of wood, ice or parking an additional vehicle?
No.
Vehicles
Can we have two vehicles at a campsite?
Yes, depending if the park can accommodate second vehicles on sites. There is a fee of $7.48 per night for the additional vehicle.
Can I use my off-highway vehicle in the park?
No.
Visitors /Non-Campers
Can friends come and visit us while we're staying in the park?
Visitors may enter the park up to 10:00pm. They must leave by 10:30 pm.
Can we drive through the park if we're not registered as campers?
Yes, providing you leave by 10:00 pm.
Can we have a picnic in the park?
If you're not a registered camper, you may picnic only in the day-use area.
