Detour to Amherst Shore Park
In effect from now until park closes
Note: Detour includes travel across 7 km of gravel road for those traveling from Halifax, Cape Breton and Yarmouth.
If you wish to avoid the detour, please travel the 104 to Amherst. Take Exit 3, turn right on Victoria Road. Travel straight to Sunrise Trail and travel 4km and turn left on Highway 366 (Highway sign reads - Tidnish, Lornville, PEI). Travel 34km on Highway 366 to Amherst Shore Park.
From Halifax: Travel on the 102 to Truro (99 km/62 miles) get on the 104 and travel to Oxford (83 km/52 miles), Take Exit # 6 at Oxford and travel 19km on route 301 to intersection at Highway 6. Turn left on Highway 6 and travel 6.5km to Linden. Take right and travel 13.7km to Detour at Shinimacas road. (sign at turn - To 366 Tidnish). Travel 4.2 km on the Shinimacas road to the Mud Creek road (paved then turning to gravel road) travel 7 km on the Mud Creek road to Highway 366, turn left, and travel 3.8 km to the Park.
From Cape Breton (Canso Causeway): Travel on the 104 to Oxford (281 km/175 miles), Take Exit # 6 at Oxford and travel 19km on route 301 to intersection at Highway 6. Turn left on Highway 6 and travel 6.5km to Linden. Take right and travel 13.7km to detour at Shinimacas road. (sign at turn - To 366 Tidnish). From New Brunswick, Nova Scotia Border: Amherst Shore Provincial Park is located 43km East of the Nova Scotia Border. Take Exit 1A at the Nova Scotia Border and travel 5 km (keep left on Lawrence St. as you enter Amherst). At the stop turn left on Highway 6 to Sunrise Trail and travel 4km and turn left on Highway 366 (Highway sign reads - Tidnish, Lornville, PEI). Travel 34km on Highway 366 to Amherst Shore Park.
From Yarmouth: Travel Highway 101 to Halifax then follow the directions from Halifax
Travel Time: Halifax - 2.5 hrs; From Sydney - 5hrs; From Amherst - 30 minutes; From Yarmouth - 5.5hrs
